So two of our best friends bought a house in Galveston to have as a weekend get-away for themselves and rent out at other times. This was something like 4 or 5 months ago. We were very excited for them, if a little horrified by the "before" pictures of the much abused little house.
This weekend we go down to see the near-finished product and help touch up paint and add little details and what not. We were expecting a 650-square foot simple wooden home like the one in the "before" picture, but cleaner and safer.
HOLY COW. We walked into a page out of a design magazine. It was crazy. Everything was white or super light blue or very light green. The kitchen has white Carrara marble, the entire house has wooden flooring, and they have a huge outdoor deck.
Hubby and I slept up in the loft--which, of course, they added to the house after raising the roof... raising the roof! First night there, the guys actually took off to go fishing at something like 1:30 am. I hit the jacuzzi bathtub (not a typo) and went to bed.
