Something in the Kitchen

granite kitchen, interior decore, granite works

If I were something in the kitchen, what would I be?

In my house I would have to avoid the sifter, the electric grill, the stove top, and the microwave. They work way to hard for my lazy taste.

If I shoot for slack, the bread maker seems a good idea. That sucker hasn’t made more than one loaf since it moved in. Then again, it’s soon to be kicked out for that very reason, so maybe that’s not such a good idea.

The juice maker is a far better choice. It hibernates in the winter but in the warm months it gets to experiment wildly with all sorts of beautiful, exotic fruit. And it’s well loved by all.

Then again, try as I may, I have a hard time overlooking the coffee maker. It’s the only appliance that is favored so much that it actually gets to go camping with us. As do the coffee thermoses.

Hey wait! They go with me absolutely everywhere. Not only do they enjoy a daily intimate sort of love, they get to hold teas and coffees from around the world (I wonder if that’s akin to us hearing many different languages), and they get to see the world! Unlike other kitchen items, they sometimes get to go on a visit with close friends or family. And unlike a casserole, they actually make their way back home.

Yes, I think I’ve hit it. I wouldn’t mind a second life as my own favorite to-go coffee mug.

What about you?

  3. I would be the refrigerator. It's the center of the home, it gets lots of attention, it has the honor to hold favorite family pictures and kids' art projects. Big, Cool and Chock Full o' Food. Yep, that's the appliance for me.
