Experimenting with the Arepera

Our new arepera has tuned our kitchen into a playground. It's intended to make arepas (corn cakes popular all over central and south America), but today it's popping out little pasta flowers -- or at least that's what they look like to me. Our pasta art kind of reminds me of daisies.

They turned out OK, but pasta dough comes out a bit crunchier than I would like in the arepera. Of course the salsa went a long way toward softening our little pockets of yum. And any time cheese is involved, the results are entirely worth it.

I love our new toy!

The NONEXISTENT Rockway Press Short Story Contest

Rockway Press never actually posted the winners of the 2007 contest. Their site has entirely disappeared, and they're on the Preditors and Editors list.
