Twist Yoga - Day 4

Day 4

To get to day four I had to skip a day. My muscles needed some recovery time. They weren't sore, just weak. I'm glad I took a day to rest, because day four went really well. The abs part was no fun, but it never is. Either way, I felt strong and mighty! And it helps that it was a Friday.

There's something about Friday that makes a great Yoga day for me, in general. I mean, I'm tired from the week, but also eager to move, yet not at all excited about going anywhere loud. Perfect Yoga mood, don't you think?

Twist Yoga - Day 3

Day 3

Today I was a puddle of sweat. I'm happy to say that it wasn't an especially difficult class. And after heating up and stretching like that, the soreness from day two was gone!

I have come to the conclusion that my balance is still rather good, but it's all mind control... because my core is all mush. Oy! Not a good thing at all, especially considering how many hours I sit at the computer. I need those abs to keep my back from getting old and rickety.

So, as much as I loath ab work, that is what I will be concentrating on for the next month of yoga.

Twist Yoga - Day 2

And the adventure continues! Honestly, I wasn't so sure I'd make it to class today, so I signed up online. Missing class would have made me conspicuously absent. Yep, still at that stage where I have to trick myself not to skip :-P  It probably has something to do with the fact that I'm one big mass of ouch.

Day 2

This morning before class I thought everything hurt. Now I know that was not at all the case. After my second day at the studio, the muscles that were aching from yesterday feel fine (well mostly, my abs are still hurting) and the muscles that were fine are now sore. Hopefully tomorrow the ouch will be concentrated at just my core.

One thing that's surprising is the stubborn presence of knots in my back and shoulders. An intense session of yoga usually takes care of these, but there are a couple of stubborn ones that just won't go away. The upside: I have a great excuse to get a back massage from hubby :-)

Twist Yoga - Day 1

I'm in love with Groupons. If you haven't seen these, go to Groupon.com. So far, I've gotten killer Thai food for two for almost nothing, and now I have one month of unlimited yoga for $29 bucks. And to make sure I take full advantage of the opportunity, I'm blogging my Twist Yoga studio experience. Don't let me slack!

Day 1

To be honest, when I saw the coupon was for Power Yoga, I wasn't sure what to think. On a couple of occasions I've walked into a Power Yoga class that felt more like aerobics with asanas lead by a far too loud, overly eager instructor.

To buy or not to buy, that was my question. One day after a lunch date with hubby, we walked past the studio and I remembered thinking that it looked cozy and friendly. So based on that impression, I bought. And I'm very glad I did.

At Twist Yoga, Power Yoga means Vinyasa flow. :-) It felt good. Considering how little I've really pushed myself with my practice at home lately, though,  I suspect tomorrow I'll be singing a different tune.
