Sandy Sunday

Beach picnics are great. This weekend the menu involved cochinita pibil sandwiches. So good and definitely one of the reasons I just can't embrace vegetarianism. Sorry, my darling veggie friends, but this stuff is so good, I'm quite sure it's a sin not to eat it.

It's a shame there aren't enough palm trees. Though I often wish Cancun hadn't decided to put up a bunch of ginormous hotels, this Sunday concrete shade was all that saved me. Within 30 minutes I was starting to fry. Had we spent the entire day directly in the sun, Monday would have been oh so painful. You can bet I won't be forgetting my sunblock next weekend.

I love the beach and still don't understand why so many of my friends and neighbors rarely go. The sand is the issue. It gets in everything. And, yes, it can be annoying. One of our micheladas had gritty foam after we accidentally dropped the Michemix bottle--I wonder if sand counts as fiber.

Even so, how can they not just love it? You have the most incredible view, a sea breeze, an ergonomically perfect napping surface, a spill proof drink cubby, and, if you're Carlos, even a custom made barcalounger!

  2. No, no, no. You can't just make a reference like that and leave people hanging.
