Being Last Can Be Better

My mind is floating to the skies as I plot and plan to get away in the coming months. Listening to the radio I heard part of a show kicking around different travel strategies to reduce common annoyances. I was happy to hear several comments in favor of last... When it comes to flying, I love last.

Baggage Last - If you check your bag at the gate there's no charge, and of course, at the other end your checked bags come out first.

Boarding Last- Waiting while reading comfortably and sipping on coffee is far better than dodging people's bags as they work them under seats or swing them over head. And on half empty flights (like red-eyes) you can just sit in the most appealing available space--whether it's yours or not. I like to hunt for the empty aisles in the back so I can nap.

Bathroom Last- Make it your last stop before boarding. According to the flight attendant Rick Steves interviewed on NPR today, a lot of people head for the bathroom as soon as they get on board, giving you another line to wait in, all so you can go in a tiny closet.

Ok, your turn. What little things do you do to make flying more comfortable?
