Moving Makes Widows

Moving has officially taken over my life. I'm tired, cranky, and contemplating setting a match to everything. For the panic prone, put the phone down. I'm exaggerating. Emergency services will not be needed.

The purging is still extremely satisfying. I love watching the bags of trash pile up, and I love staring at the empty spot they leave once they're gone. It's very liberating. But coordinating this effort is causing friction of the growling kind.

It doesn't help that my schedule is completely messed up either.

Imagine if you will, a woman that sleeps 8.5 hours a night suddenly sleep deprived, near yoga-less, and eating down the fridge and pantry. After this, I'm off chicken, bread, and pasta for a long time!

Remarkably, I've lost two pounds this week. I've also lost hair pigment--and no, this is not how I envisioned aging. If we don't finish soon, I'll be a twiggy cranky hag of a widow with stiff joints.

One more week to go.

  1. wow! 8.5 hours sleep...that sure is luxury!!

Moving is the pits...I still don't get why you like doing it so frequently!

  2. I hate moving and had sincerely hoped this would be my last one for a very long time. To my credit, I've been here three years (three years too long), but I simply have to get away from this horrible, little backwater hole and I literally dread it!

My parents have a place about 20 miles from here, so they were able to bring a lot of my stuff from the childhood home whenever they came to their house up here; I won't have that luxury this go-round... I don't know what I'm going to do.

One thing I am doing is going through everything I have and purging - as you said. It helps a little now and it will certainly help then!

    Good luck.

  4. Thanks for cheering me on. I would love to say I'm finally done, but no such luck.

Most of the boxes are unpacked and the curtain rods are up, but the tupperware just can't seem to find a home, my room still has a box or two to be dealt with, and our suitcases are lining the hall. I have no idea where to put them.

The living room still has some clutter, so yoga is a bit perilous.

Our walls are still bare. I'm waiting to get furniture type things in their permanent place--still experimenting a bit--before deciding where to hang what.

    But we're progressing.
